Is SEO trustworthy for your company?

SEO is widely spread through out the internet and thought of as an art, today, many people are trying to learn and pick up SEO online where tips are given away daily. The problem is, using and learning SEO is an extremely difficult trait to master, you must understand HTML coding, how to design a website properly for better conversion, how SEO is implemented into a website, keyword research, content writing (with keyword implementation), back link building (crucial and important), meta tag development (meta title being of the utmost importance), and so on.

Being an SEO specialist is a full out working regimen, not a hobby, and it is a profession in every sense of the word like any other job on the planet. Fortunately for SEO specialists, it will be one of the most demanded jobs over the next 10 years or so as the internet continues to develop and grow and as more businesses understand the power of Google search engine and how searchers effect their business.

So if you're a business looking for SEO? is it hard to find legitimate SEO corporations or companies or freelancers on the internet?

One such website which offers great free lancers who will not get paid until the job is done, or usually there is some sort of contractual obligation with Elance.com looking over the process and releasing the money when parts of the project are completed (or whatever is agreed upon by both parties). Unfortunately, the problem with this website is that it is prevailing with companies and freelancers from India looking to offer cheaper labor to businesses in North America, while this may sound good, it can often be hard to tell what kind of processes and sEO techniques they are using to achieve first page rankings. Furthermore, it is not possible to meet face to face and discuss your SEO solutions, nor is it easy for them to send you reports and keep you updated since you have different time zones across varying regions of the world.

So if not Elance, then why not try a simple Google search for an SEO company?

This is a great idea, remember, pay attention to Google maps which pops up on the searcn engine results page (SERP). Google Maps usually list only the real and non-fraudulent SEO companies, so this means you can pick out any of the top ten and their phone # will be listed there directly or you can simply click their company name to get sent directly to their website. Other than that, you can usually trust the top 10 listings, or the sponsored links. Since sponsored links are paid for by real SEO companies, people who are trying to scam or fraud will usually not commit their money and credit card account to adsense in fear of being tracked due to scamming people (if the person scammed ever complains to Google).

Within the top 10 lists, you are sure to find some "SEO Companies" which do not truly exist, so make sure to check addresses, call phone numbers, and search the location on Google map, nowadays with the new featured "Street view" on Google maps you can directly click a location and find out if it exists through a live sattelite picture of the location. So trust your instincts and do your research, because SEO is extremely beneficial to your company and will yield you tons of targeted visitors.

SEO - Content is king

Why is content so important to a website? is content the deciding factor on whether a website will reach the first pages or not? read below to find out:

when Google deciphers and picks out which websites are best fit to rank amongst their highly regarded first pages for convulted search results filled out by millions of pages competing for a short top 10 list per keywords, content becomes an efficient manner in how websites are ranked appropriately.

So how do you go about producing content that is relevant to what people search for? The most important thing in life before setting out to do anything is research and knowledge about what you need. In this case, we must know what people search for, how many times they search it, where they're searching it, and will they be searching it in the future?

There are many different ways to do this, first, take a general keyword which your product or service represents, so say your an internet marketing company or an SEO company and want to find out if people are searching 'SEO company' on Google. Your next step will be to find a keyword research tool, there are a few tools available online, the main ones that are used by SEO specialists include Google keyword tool (provided by their Adwords program as a part of promoting paid search advertising and giving it for free, it is extremely useful but is criticized for giving estimate numbers and not exact numbers in fear of competition), Wordtracker (is criticized of giving inaccurate numbers and not being able to predict numbers correctly at all, making people chase keywords which are not very productive and waste valuable working time to achieve first pages), and SEO Suggestion Tool (uses the same software as Wordtracker). Our advice to you is to use Google Keyword Tool, although it is an estimate, it roughly gives you an idea of how many people search the keyword monthly. The great thing about Google keyword tool is that it gives you countless variations of the keyword which are typed into Google, make sure to change the keyword to exact instead of broad and you will get the exact amount of searches monthly. Broad = other variations of the keyword included in the search figures (# of searchers), exact (exact # of searchers searching the keyword without variations).

Once you found your set of keywords, you must now properly inject them into different places of your website, so how do you begin such an erroneous task?

Your first step is to take care of your main page. The main page of your website is the most important page, it is where all your users will be landing and it is provided the most relevancy and weight by Google. Remember, keyword density is important, don't stuff and spam keywords all over the website or you will be ranked very low. Make sure to use the entire phrase of the keyword your using once or twice and then use it through out the page with synonyms. Write constructive sentences and cohesive paragraphs relating to your products and services, and it will help boost you up for keywords.

Do not think for a moment that you cannot compete for a keyword by using simply content, millions of blogs and articles are written by people just like you and do not require back links or any other form of SEO, they can achieve first pages simply based on the pure amount of content they have; But heed this warning, if you are planning to attack the search engine world plainly with content, then make sure your entire page is content based. Otherwise, if you want just a small amount of content on your website, then make sure to inject keywords in the right doses into the right areas and then use other SEO techniques such as back link building.

Google releases Breadcrumb SEO

timizing your website requires many technical skills, including SEO (search engine optimization), SEM techniques, keyword research, breadcrumb SEO, landing page optimization, and so on.

As of today, Google.com released a new method which really helps all websites across the world, this is called Google bread crumb. Breadcrumb is extremely useful to any website today, it is a technique which allows visitors to see more than one URL address (landing pages) under your website address. This is an amazing feature because it is able to separate the best websites from the rookies and pretenders, it requires specific coding and implementing that code into your website (search breadcrumb SEO on Google in order to find out the code). Once you have implemented this code, say a searcher keys in a search into the Google query (imagine the searcher is looking for a Toronto SEO company), once the search is keyed in, all top 10 websites will pop up. Websites which are using Breadcrumbs within their HTML code will show all the landing pages of their website underneath their URL address (in green). You'll notice that instead of the landing page saying "Click here" or "Contact Us", they will have keywords.

This is the big advantage of Google breadcrumbs, you are able to see keywords which not only represent the landing page but also tie in to the overall theme of keywords that a particular website is trying to chase; this means you're exponentially increasing your chance to rank on the first pages of Google for any keyword; it's really an amazing invention but doesn't have much difference than say meta keywords (which no longer hold any credentials or weight with Google).

Other than breadcrumb seo (please search on Google), there are many other ways to optimize your website. Remember, if you are a website providing services (like an SEO company) you must have forms which ask specific questions (not personal) and provide them with different options about what kind of service they want (be it SEM, PPC, or SEO) and the pricing structure of the services you provide.

The next thing to remember is that keyword research is vital to any successful SEO campaign for your website, without properly inserting and injecting keywords into your content (without spamming) you risk missing out on thousands of searchers daily while your competition's marketshare grows larger daily because of Google. How do you go about compling a keyword list? Use Wordtracker, Google keyword tool, and SEO suggestion tool. Once you have typed in a "broad" (broad = all words included into the variety of it) phrase then make sure to take that phrase and put it into Google search to see the amount of competition for a specific search. If the competition is high and the amount of searchers for a specific keyword is not high, then it's not worth chasing that keyword, simple as that.

The next step is to make sure your entire page is optimized, use SEO to optimize your website including proper meta tags (focus on meta title and description only, filling out keywords does not matter), content, alt image tags, and more.

Lastly, make sure to use website grader to check how well you have optimized your website (it may not track it right away, you need to give Google time to cache your website 7 days after you have made changes, so keep checking website grader every 7 days to see your website results and how well optimized you are)

SEO - the power of images

In the past, typing a search into Google images meant getting many mixed images that may have not given you exactly what you were looking for. Google is experimenting with a new breed of images called "Google semantics" in Google Labs, it is a process of separating images by likeness, so say if you typed "Jaguar", which were you looking for? The car? The Animal? The symbol?, this helps separate the images into like sub folders where you choose the ones which are relevant to the type of images you're looking for.

Furthermore, it is vital for you to use Google images in order to increase your rankings. Why you ask? Because just as many people who search on the regular Google Query search on Google images, whether it's to find pictures of their favorite animal, find pictures for their website, school project, or because they're simply bored and trying to gain knowledge, it is imperative that your website is listed on Google images.

What I bet you didn't know is that Google Images not only yields searchers to look at the image posted, but your website appears on the bottom after a pic is clicked on, meaning many searchers end up looking at your website once they found a image they like. So the question is, how do you go about using images on your website to gain Google traffic through images? every image that you use on your website is equally important as the next, make sure to name your images something which is relevant to what people search, so if you have a group of business men standing around then you can call the image "business men group" or "teamwork" these are terms which are often searched on Google Images. Your image may not make the first page of images, but that does not matter, people will often click for endless pages to look at all the pictures, meaning there is an extremely high chance that your picture will be clicked on; remember, one visitor is better than none.

If you run an adsense campaign, this is an amazing way to gain cheap traffic without having to do an extra work. Make sure that your alt tags on images also feature keywords which people search for on both organic google and google images, this gives great relevancy not only to have the search engine spider crawl your website and place you on extra keywords, but to also put you on Google Images for costless traffic.

So in order for you to be successful, remember that with Google adding 'image semantics' and changing the way images are read on Google, you will be placed on more relevant images and your chances of appearing on first pages will increase exponentially. Many companies do not know the power of Google Images and often name their images by random names without paying attention to the keywords they are using in their alt img tag text and in the name of that specific image.

Put your mind forth and set image names and alt img tags for all your images, you will start seeing relevant traffic grow on your website.

How to Optimize Your Website For Better Visitor Experience And Traffic

This article describes in simple terms, practical and effective tactics used to optimize your website. Following these suggestions, will result in a more enjoyable visitors experience and traffic.

Compatibility With Web Browsers

It isn't a surprised for website owners, webmasters and others who are involved in their websites optimization, to see how different the web pages are displayed in various web browsers or between different web browsers version. Web pages might not even be visible in some web browsers.

Displaying differences it's the result of how the various available web browsers (Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Netscape, etc.), or their versions, handle HTML code, HTML errors or computer screen resolution used. Because of the above reasons, I highly recommend to look at your web pages through at least three of the most widely used web browser platforms: Internet Explorer, Netscape and Firefox. (See Anybrowser viewer and Firefox below).

Title and Meta Tags

From the visitor's point of view, the only tag visible within the head section is the title tag, which is not a meta tag itself, but a stand alone tag found in the head section of the web page. The title tag is responsible of the wording displayed at the top left hand corner of the web browser window. Think of the title tag as the subject of an email message.

In the early days of the Internet, one could influence the search result by including keywords within the meta keyword and meta description tags you wanted the search engine (SE) to classify your page for, today you cannot influence the result of the SE by just adding desirable keywords anymore due to the level of complexity the SEs have achieved.

Keyword tag should contain between 5 and 10 keywords that appear on the body of your page. You should never include keywords in the tag that do not appear on that page. (See meta tags generator below).

The Importance of ALT Tags

Many web surfer and visually challenged people browse the Internet with the image viewing option of their web browser turn off or using text readers respectively. When one of these surfer visits your site containing lot of images, and it happen to be that those images contain most of the content your website is about, they won't be able to read the content of your pages if the images do not contain the ALT="your image description" tags. The same situation applies to the search engines since SEs do not index images, they won't index any text your web site has in image format. ALT tags are essentially image descriptions.

Browser Safe Color Palettes

Computer platforms handle color differently, and the web browser limits colors significantly. In order to move through the digital world with consistency, the web page designer must be well aware of this fact.

While in the real world all colors are the result of some subtractive combination of three primaries colors: red, yellow, and blue. In the digital world all colors are the result of additive color synthesis or combination of three primary colors: red, green, and blue, referred to as RGB for short.

RGB values are derived from a method that numerically determines how much red, green, and blue make up the color in question. Each color contains a percentage of red, green, and blue.

A safe color palette is a palette containing 216 RGB colors that are going to remain as stable as possible from one browser to another, between platforms, and at different monitor capacities and resolutions. If colors outside the safe palette are used, many web site visitors will see the color the computer has available instead of the color you have called for. (See web safe color chart below).

Check For Broken Links

Broken links are links that lead to nowhere, and clicking on the link will show you a 404 error code page. It is said that about 5% to 7% of all links on the Internet are broken.

A site that contains broken links, including missing links to images, gives a very bad impression to potential visitors and it is a frequent cause of lost visitors. (See links checker and Netmechanic tools below).

Check Web Pages Load Time

Many Web surfers today browse the Internet through a high speed broadband connection, it is fair to say that those visitors won't have any problem accessing a heavy loaded page document, but a significant percentage of those Web surfers still use slow speed dial up connection to access the Web.

Surfers are known for having a very short attention span and will leave your site before the page finishes loading. You'll lose many visitors and sales this way if you do not pay attention to the loading time of your pages. Generally speaking, the maximum accepted time for a page to load is about 10 seconds, and it is recommended that your page to be around 25Kb in size.

One easy way to calculate the net size of your web page is by using Windows Explorer to find the file of your HTML and any graphic it contains and looking to the size value for each file involved then adding those numbers to get the size of the page in question.

Decreasing the loading time of a web page can be easily achieved by both, compressing or shrinking the size of your images, and reducing the size of your HTML code. (See load time checker and image cruncher below).

HTML Code Optimizer

An HTML Optimizer removes all blank spaces in your HTML code, and this is another way to make your page load faster. The result is shorter downloading time. Pages will be shown in a client's browser in exactly the same way, but the file size will be smaller.

Please make sure that the HTML optimizer you use does not compress embedded script codes within your page, which might be rendered unusable if they get optimized this way. (See code optimizer below).

BORDER, HEIGHT and WIDTH Attributes

The attributes used with the [IMG] tag to specify an image width and height are the WIDTH and HEIGHT attributes indicating the exact size of your image in pixels.

One interesting advantage to adding the height and width attributes to an image tag is that when you do specify the image size for all of your images, browsers take a lot less time to render your page because the browser can determine the layout of the page without having to retrieve each image separately to find out what size it is.

Validate Your HTML Code

Just as texts in a natural language can include spelling or grammar errors, documents using markup languages like HTML may, for numerous reasons, not be following these rules. The process of verifying whether a Web document actually follows the rules for the language it uses is called validation, and the tool used for that is a validator.

Different browsers, or versions of the same browser, will make different guesses about the same illegal code; even worse, if your HTML code is really bad, the browser could get confused and produce a mangled display mess, or even crash. Validating your HTML will help ensure that it displays properly on most browsers. Always check the validity of your HTML code. (See validation service below).

Page Rank, Who ranks who ?

Getting more traffic, means getting network with quality websites that connected in such ways. One component that will boost your position in search engine is Page Rank. As for NgaduTrafik 2007 showcase, which only last in 3 months, I estimate that contestant Page Rank would be maximum PR3.

This is because PR depends on various factors e.g. : domain age, quality links, traffic, content, etc. Well I think getting quality backlinks in 3 months is pretty difficult problem for all of NgaduTrafik 2007 contestants.

OK, let's get more technical stuff.

What is Page Rank ?
Page Rank™ is a link analysis algorithm that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of "measuring" its relative importance within the set. The algorithm may be applied to any collection of entities with reciprocal quotations and references. In simple words, it is a value that how “important” and “good” Google sees your website.

Google ? Yes, as PageRank is Google patent technology, and no other search engine in the earth has it. Google founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin developed this when the're in Stanford University. Larry Page ? Yes, his last name is used on term PageRank (you notice this ?)

Why we need Page Rank ? Google is God ?
Google isn't God, for sure. It's a machine with binary code and can only understand 0 and 1. As it's a machine, there are always some tricks on how to manipulate its way of “think”.

But Yes, Google is God of Internet. Imagine your Internet life without Google ? (Think..)

So, The Google machine will display results of what you are searching for, and filter the list on how importance the website to you. The higher Page Rank, the higher position you will get.

Why I see some of NgaduTrafik 2007 contestants PR only got 1 or even 0 ?

Like I said in above paragraph, high PR websites can only achieved in a long term period. No tricks on that. If you see a brave new website has a PR4 or more, believe me it's a FAKE. Better check websites PR using trusted website like IwebTool.Com
How to achieve higher Page Rank ?

Higher PageRank can ONLY be achieved using good Link Building strategy (See : Day 5 – Link Building : Where's the block, dude ?). The more you get quality backlinks, the higher Page Rank you will get. The higher PageRank you get, the better position you will get on Google result.

NgaduTrafik 2007 contestants' Page Rank
Like I've mentioned in first paragraph, NgaduTrafik 2007 contestants' PageRank will not exceed PR 3. Why? The time isn't enough to get proper PageRank. But again, as the contest still goes on, there are many tricks in getting better PageRank (hence, better position in Google, Yahoo and MSN).

For me, Link Development .. the good one..and the correct one is just enough.

Role of SEO in Online Marketing

Online marketing, also known as Internet marketing, is simply the marketing of products and service offerings via the Internet. With the explosion of Internet onto the scene, almost every home is connected to your product or service through online marketing. You may have a great service or the perfect product and a fantastic website but that will not ensure visitors to your site. So it’s important to get the Internet marketing right.

Online marketing comes in various forms – banner ads, email marketing, paid inclusions, pay per click, affiliate advertising and search engine optimization (SEO). The growth of online marketing has been fueled largely by the expansion of the Internet audience and the convenience a customer can be offered in terms of purchasing online. With the large audience out there, you will want to get as many visitors as possible to your site. This brings us into the realm of SEO, since this is becoming one of the main avenues for an online business to try to increase virtual footfalls to the site.

Let’s first talk about SEO – what is it? Put simply, it is the use of an algorithm to improve a sites search engine rankings or hits. This is done by an Internet marketer to try to improve the quantity as well as the quality of visitors to their website. The concept of improved quality is also important here – it is essential to direct the right traffic, people searching for the product or service that you offer or something similar, rather than simply a random selection of people looking for something else. Ideally, your SEO strategy should work with your target market in mind and work towards attracting this target market to the site. Relevance is key, since people looking for a web-hosted tax planning software will not buy wedding invitations, even if driven to the website and will be disappointed.

SEO is important because it covers most of the key areas that marketers need to address while selling and advertising online – it generates awareness, it leads to acquisition of customers and conversion of visitors to customers, and optimizes the marketing efforts to target buyers.

The value of increased, relevant traffic to the site will most likely guarantee increased sales. SEO marketing offers information about your product offering when the interest from visitors is high and, once directed to your site, the visitor can be converted to a buyer immediately. Most companies build out their online marketing strategies keeping SEO in mind. This is essential to the success of a marketing plan, since a good SEO plan can be supported by a pertinent emailing marketing campaign and other PR programs.

Thus, the role of SEO is so vital to a successful online marketing campaign that it can be considered a separate tactic in itself but it is best to make it a well-planned segment of an organized strategy. Consider this: an inappropriately planned SEO may result in wasted resources, optimizing factors that do not link back to the correct target audience in the midst of a highly competitive and growing online marketplace. While many SEO experts and marketers may dispute the process to successful SEO (some say page linking, some keyword basics, others copywriting and so on), one thing most people agree on is constructing an SEO that is closely connected with your marketing strategy so that each supports the other.

How To Do On Page SEO

When it comes to doing business online, you will soon discover that it's all about the traffic. Traffic, or the number of internet users you'd be able to generate for your website, is and will always be the lifeblood of any online venture. After all, what good is a website when there's no one there to see its pages? How successful will your digital products be if no one would be able to know about them? Who will avail of your services when no one will get exposed to their existence?

Contrary to what many people believe, generating traffic for your website does not start once you pages are published and have gone live. Traffic generation strategies start at the very moment you are conceptualizing an idea for the website itself.

This is what on page search engine optimization (SEO) is all about. It is concerned with techniques that you could implement on your web pages themselves to ensure a good volume of traffic for your website. 80% of your traffic would come from the many search engines in the World Wide Web. If each and every web page you have is optimized for these search engines, then your website would be in a good position to have a high rank for the results of every relevant query.

Keyword selection. Choosing the right keywords is essential for the success of your website. Keywords are the popular search terms that people use to gather information from the search engines. If your web pages are populated by the right density of the correct keywords, then you'll have better chances of winning the attention of the search engine spiders. To determine the appropriate keywords for the subject that your website will be servicing, use the free tools that can be found at nichebot dot com.

Keyword placement in content. Content is the king of the internet. But even royalty needs support. Populate your content with the proper amount of keywords. A density level of at least 2% should be sought. This means that the right keywords should be mentioned at least twice for every 100 words of text.

META tags. META tags are HTML codes that do not have a bearing on the physical appearance of your web pages, but they do inform the search engine spiders that such web pages are appropriate for a particular query. Always include the following META tags on the top portion of your source code. You could copy-paste them from the list below, but do change the indicated fields. Also, make sure that you include your keywords as much as you could on your META tags.

META NAME="Author" CONTENT="your name here"
META NAME="Subject" CONTENT="the subject of your site"
META NAME="Description" CONTENT="description of your site"
META NAME="Keywords" CONTENT="your keywords here"
META NAME="Revisit-after" CONTENT="14 days"
META NAME="Rating" CONTENT="General"
META NAME="Robots" CONTENT="All"

ALT tags. ALT tags refer to the text that would appear every time the mouse cursor would pass through an image. Your ALT tags should include your keywords.

Page titles. Page titles are the captions that appear at the very top of your web page. Make sure that each web page in your website would have a different title that will include the appropriate keywords.

Focus. Remember, search engines will crawl through your website per page. Each page is a different project altogether. Focus is the key. Ensure that each web page of yours would focus on a particular keyword or key phrase. If there is an article in that page, make sure that the article will only discuss and include one keyword or key phrase from the list you have made. Also, it would greatly help if you would name the page file in a manner that would include the keyword or key phrase it is focused on.

Following these guidelines would help you a lot in securing a favorable position in search engine results pages. This in turn would guarantee for you a sustainable and sufficient volume of traffic that would make your website a genuine success.

How To Compete With The SEO Gurus And Win The Search Engine War

Many new webmasters read about SEO (search engine optimization) and worry that they won't be able to compete in their competitive market against the pros because of their relative lack of experience in getting web pages found in the search engines.

This is quite understandable, and the truth is that most people will struggle to get pages to rank well in the major search engines...but there is hope, and by following a few simple guidelines you can start to have pages on the first page of the results of Yahoo and Google over time.

Here's a question I often receive - I just read an article explaining all about using keywords in your URL, Title Tags and in the 'anchor text' of incoming links to our site. If everyone is doing this, how are we supposed to get our sites ranking well when we have such stiff competition?

My Answer?

Not everyone is doing this correctly and besides it doesn't really matter if they are. In the not too distant future, pure search engine focused SEO like these articles discuss is doomed and yet many of the people in the industry either don't get it or are hoping it doesn't happen.

Here's why...

While factors such as correctly formatted title tags and descriptions are important, the 'real' thing to focus on is creating unique, valuable content that adds value to the web and contains your own personal 'voice' or style and personality.

A perfectly SEO'ed site that contains boring, generic content (or simply rehashed or re-written PLR content purchased from a membership site somewhere) which is designed only with SE's in mind has no chance against a well written site which contains the author's own personal style, friendly writing and great content when a HUMAN visitor comes along.

Search engines track lots of things including length of each visitor's stay and when people find a site they love, they tend to hang around. When they arrive at a site that's obviously aimed at SE's and simply designed to get Adsense clicks or funnel people to an affiliate program, they don't.

Sometimes they'll click on an ad to get away from the site, but they never come back and wouldn't think of subscribing to a newsletter there - and building a list of subscribers is an important part of building your online business. The bottom line is what's the point of doing perfect SEO, getting incoming links with the right anchor text, etc., and then not giving your visitors what they are looking for when they arrive?

Most pure SEO guys just don't get this, and that is why you can build a site that outranks them when we do the correct SEO stuff AND create unique, valuable content that helps and entertains your visitors. And fortunately for us little guys, many of the SEO pros will never get it, so we have nothing to fear from most of the 'gurus'...

Bottom line?

Build unique content, develop your own 'voice', set up your pages correctly using good SEO fundamentals, build lots of pages around easy-to-win keywords to start with, and you will not only compete in your niche, you'll ultimately be in a position to dominate segments of your market as your website traffic grows and grows.

SEO - Onsite Optimization.

While there are intelligent SEO's out there who would disagree, the entire debate seems obvious to us at least.

If the search engines are looking at onsite factors at all (which they are) and looking for relevancy then it naturally follows that there is a percentage of your content that can consist of the targeted keywords and indicate to the engines that your site is relevant for a given phrase.

That said, and like the titles, it is not about cramming in keywords anywhere to boost the density in your Home Business Start site´s content. Using a KDA tool to find the optimal density for your industry will give you a good idea of any content changes you may need to make.

From here you will want to look at two additional areas of your competitors sites. One which you can get from an advances KDA tool and the other you can get right from the engines themselves. Which brings us to

Special formats and positioning.

Special formats will be considered content elements such as bold, colors, anchor text, or any other content characteristics that sets specific text out as different when a search engine is spidering your Home Business Start site.

Positioning refers to the position of the keywords in relation to the entire content on a given page. Aside from this type of positioning there is also the consideration of how the content and keywords are positioned relative to the code of the page (and sometimes these can be two very different things).

Special formats such as bold, colors, italics, highlights, etc. set specific content aside as more important than the rest.

The use of these formats, provided that it is done correctly, can not only help improve that rankings of your Home Business Start website for specific phrases but can also enhance the usability of your website in general by drawing the human eye to key content.

This is not to say that you should bold, highlight and color every instance of your targeted phrase but rather use these elements to draw the eye to the key content you are most interested in getting read.

With positioning the job is a bit more difficult to assess. One of the best ways to quickly isolate how your competitors have used special formats and where they have positioned there keywords in relation to the entire page is to simply run a search for the phrases on Google and view the cache of the page.

The keywords will be highlighted in a variety of colors and will allow you to quickly glance through their page and isolate what special elements they are using and where they have positioned their keywords on the page. You will want to do this for the top 10 competitors.

Conclusion.

As with any competition, if you understand what those who have what you want are doing it becomes a matter of doing the same and then adding 10% to your efforts.

In the case of onsite optimization you'll simply want to duplicate the best of the top ten, in part two on external factors you will be doing the 10% more.

This is the truly incredible aspect of what a good SEO tool can do. A good SEO tool will spider the links of the top rankings sites for your phrase and provide a detailed list of your major competitors' links...

Overlooked Step In SEO

magine spending countless hours optimizing your website only to discover that it's still not ranking any higher. What could possibly be holding your site back? After all your code is search engine friendly, the content has been rewritten to ensure its topic relevancy, and you've managed to score some pretty good links to your site.

If everything seems to be in place, you may be surprised to find out that you've overlooked a crucial step in the SEO process.

Just when you think you're site is performing at its best you learn the awful truth - your web server is hindering your search engine ranking.

Selecting a server is often overlooked as a step in the SEO process. However, it is a crucial first step that each SEO professional should address when beginning any project. There are seven key areas that search engines now consider when ranking websites that could be affected by your web server.

Uptime
Your web server's guaranteed uptime is a major factor that can affect your site's ranking. The uptime of your site is so important because if it isn't up and running then there is no way for the search engine spiders to crawl your pages. To ensure that your site is at its best availability don't settle for a web server that offers anything less than 99.9% uptime.

Name Servers
Do you know who else is on your name server? Well, even if you don't know all of the major search engines do. They can identify all of the domain names with which you share a name server. This can be bad news for you ranking if you happen to share your name server with a large number of spam sites.

IP Classes
Search engines group websites into neighborhoods based on their IP addresses. A search engine can detect what types of websites are hosted on a Class C IP address, and you could be penalized if your site is mixed into a bad neighborhood.

Sharing an IP Address
Chances are that you are just one of the many clients that your web server has assigned to a single IP address. This could mean that you are in some bad company if one of those sites breaks the rules of one or more search engines then you run the risk of being banned with them. You see it is much easier for a spammer to obtain a new domain name than a new IP address so many search engines choose to ban the IP address instead of the domain name.

Response Time
Search engine spiders are busy programs and therefore have very limited time to crawl through each site. If your website has a slow response time then it will take longer to read each page and the spiders will have to move on before crawling all of your pages.

Date Modified Attribute
Another aspect of your web server to keep in mind is whether it supports the Date Modified attribute or not. Major search engines like Google are constantly checking the dates that documents are created to determine the average age of the documents on your site and how frequently pages are updated or changed. If your web server doesn't support the Date Modified attribute then the search engines are unable to collect this pertinent information from your site.

301 Redirect Capabilities
Search engines see the www domain and the non-www domain as separate sites, but 301 redirects help to avoid the possibility of duplicate content penalties. Ideally, your server should automatically issue a 301 server site redirect to any request made for a non-www domain that forwards users to the www domain.

Check out your web hosting server to determine if your host is keeping your ranking down. Ask them about these important factors to see where their service stands. Were they selective when you signed up for hosting or were they willing to give up the space without asking any questions?

On the other hand, if you are a web host keeping these criteria in mind can help you to provide a better quality service to your customers. Services that determine whether or not your servers are SE friendly are available from SEO Certified Servers.

To SEO or To PPC?

The online community is definitely a large market place that you cannot ignore, especially if you have an internet business. There are thousands if not millions of consumers that you can tap in the internet.

At the same time, the internet also poses a quite different challenge. The easy access that internet provides also gives you as much competition as you can imagine. It is too crowded and congested.

Having a website is not enough to make your business running and able to compete. You must take other alternatives to give way for the online community to access your website at any rate or chance possible.

You have to expose your website. Make it known. It has to be visible. It has to be frequently targeted by consumers and surfers.

Invest in marketing your internet site. There are basically two options available to you, the SEO and PPC. These two are probably the most desirable alternatives you can get for your internet business as strategy for search engine marketing.

1. SEO

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Some researches indicate that 60% - 70% of internet surfers and users actually resort to using the Google search engine to find and locate web sites and pages, for any topic they desire. SEO is the process taken to make sure that the internet uses will find your website when ranked among the top results of a search. This way you can make sure that you will be visible and can clearly stand out from the rest.

To get a search engine optimization, you will have to build on your own internet site frequently hit internet links to web site pages. The process will involve IBLN or Independent Back-Linking Network, wherein hundreds or even thousands of pages will be utilized to promote a particular website of a client.

In SEO, there is no need for you to pay for the clicks although it will require you to spend time doing research to get a favorable combination of ads and target audience. The SEO process is a long term one. It requires months, 6 months at the least, before the proper outcome is fully achieved, but once the goal is accomplished, you will definitely get a steady source of profit.

2. PPC

PPC means Pay Per Click. It gives way advertising on a search engine. These are sponsored listings that you see whenever you make a search. There will be a charge whenever a visitor or web surfer clicks on any of your ads. There will first be a bidding process. The highest bidder for the price per click will definitely get the chance to be first listed in the search engine.

With this kind of advertising, you can still basically control your campaign as you get to create your own ad. You will also manage the target audience and still stay within the bounds of your budget. Most of the providers of PPC advertising will allow you to specify the target market, either by topic, industry or geographical location. You can also very well check if your ad gets to be shown at all and if it is competitive with the rest.

There are some guaranteed benefits when you get to maximize the PPC strategy.

?PPC lets you advertise to the whole of the online community. It is also relatively easy to set up.

?At first glance, PPC advertising may seem very expensive. Could it possibly happen that someone out there will go on clicking on your ad? This will definitely give you a large bill without the expected profit on your part. If this provides a lot of worries, be rest assured that there is a protection for you. Networks are able to recognize fraudulent clicks.

?You can also set a budget for a certain period. The moment your budget has been used up by the target number of clicks, your ads will no longer be displayed until the next period you want it again displayed.

?You will also be able to adjust well to changes in market demands and trends.

In deciding which of the two strategies will work right for you, think of your goals and of your resources. They definitely offer benefits and advantages that will work for your good. The better way to approach this two is to evaluate according to your short term and long term plans. Take the PPC course for your short term goals and choose SEO if you have long term ones.

5 Profitable No SEO Needed Adsense Techniques

1. Find a topic you can create a two part article on. Write part one of your article and place it on a page on your website. Place Google Adsense ads next to your article. Next you will want to create part two of your article and make sure to make reference to your first article in your second article. Take part two of your article and submit it to ezine publishers, and article directories.

Using this technique, part two of your article will drive traffic to part one of your article. In this way you will profit when someone clicks on your Google Adsense ads when visiting the web page that you have part one of your article on.

2. Create a site that is related to your market that has nothing on it but good quality content about a popular topic in your market. Make sure that you place Google Adsense ads on the site also. You'll then offer ezine publishers and ad on one of the pages of your site if they'll mention your site to their subscribers. Make sure they know they'll benefit by other ezines publishers sending traffic to your site. Their subscribers will be exposed to those ads also. You'll profit from the earnings you earn by people clicking on your Google Adsense ads.

This technique is profitable for everyone involved. I haven't seen anyone using it so be a pioneer and watch this technique explode your Google Adsense income!

3. Find a profitable topic and create a 5-10 website about the topic. Make sure to place Google Adsense ads on your website along with the content. Next you will want to create a mini-ebook or report about the topic, and include affiliate links for products and services related to your topic. Take your mini-ebook or report and give it to website owners and ezine publishers who can reach your target market. Allow them to brand the affiliate links in your mini-ebook or report with their own affiliate links. Within your mini-ebook or report, you'll want to make many references to the website you created for this topic that have your Google Adsense ads on it. Whoever passes this mini-ebook or report around will be driving traffic to your site, and you'll profit from those that click on your Google Adsense ads.

This technique uses viral marketing which in my opinion is one of the most powerful marketing techniques around. You can get some added exposure by submitting your ebook to ebook directories. Do a search to find ebook directories.

4. Take a couple of articles that you have written, and upload them to your website. Make sure to place your Google Adsense code next to your article. Now take the URL of your articles and place the URL in your signature line in your email or forum signature line.

With this one easy technique, I've made up to $46 a day for spending a few minutes putting the URLs into my signature line.

5. Create a mini ecourse on a topic that you know about or do research on a popular topic and create a mini course for it. Take each day of your course and place it on it's own website. Day one will have it's own page. Day two will have it's own page, and so on. Make sure you place Google Adsense ads on each of these pages also.

When people sign up for your ecourse instead of emailing them the content, send them to the website address where the content is. The key to this is putting your Google Adsense ads before the content.

By using this technique you are not only building a subscriber list, but you'll also profit from people who click on your Google Adsense ads when visiting to read your ecourse.

In the future I will be writing more articles on how to profit with Google Adsense without having to use any SEO techniques. By using the techniques above, you are working smarter and not harder, and that's really the key to making money with Google Adsense.

Number of Keywords on a Page

One of the most accepted ways to catch the eye of a search engine spider is to optimize the number of keywords on a Web page. By keywords, we mean the core subject described on the Web page, or a particular word or phrase a person wants the search engine to find in cyberspace. For the best SEO results, the keywords must be repeated at least three to four times within a page of text. There are no defined limits to the number of times the keywords can be used, but ideally they must not be used too often or too infrequently. For keyword phrases (combinations of several keywords), you must take care that the keyword phrases are repeated several times throughout the text, with each of word in the phrase appearing in the exact order every time. Additionally, each word in the keyword phrase must be used often and independently elsewhere in the text. For example, if the keyword phrase is "SEO optimization," the whole phrase should be used a number of times in the text body, and the individual words "SEO" and "optimization" should appear spread throughout the text independently a number of times. As a rule of thumb, if the key phrase "SEO optimization" is used 10 times, the individual word "SEO" can be used 7 times and "optimization" can appear 5 times. This is not a set pattern, but it represents the general picture of keyword/key phrase distribution. Another way to describe the number of keywords on a page is the term "keyword density." In fact, this is how Web designers explain the arrangement of keywords on a Web page. Keyword density denotes the frequency of times a keyword appears in the given text. It is usually expressed in percentages. For example, a keyword appearing 6 times on a page of 100 words has a keyword density of 6 percent. Paying attention to keyword density is important because if the keyword density is too low, search engines pay scant attention to the page. Likewise, if a keyword density that is too high could invite trouble if the search engines regard it as spam and activate the spam filter for that particular Web page. If the latter occurs, Google will penalize the Web page and demote the Web site's ranking. Very simply, maintaining keyword density is like a tightrope walk, with very little room for error. It is hit or miss at its very best! For optimal search engine response, keyword density on a particular Web page must ideally hit between 5 and 7 percent. In the case of keyword phrases, the total density of the individual words in the phrase must also fall within these limits. Anything more than 7 percent could be counterproductive, as it is detrimental to your SEO success and also spoils the readability of the page's content. Another aspect of keyword use that could ratchet up your success with search engine response is the number of keywords used intelligently at the start of the page or in the headings. Search engines generally place more weight on keyword density at the upper portion of a Web page. Also, keywords used in the title tag, those in strong/bold font, and keywords or key phrases featuring links to other pages could influence search results phenomenally. To conclude, keywords are vital for improving the rankings of any Web page. But you must use caution to use them often enough to positively affect the search results, but not so often that the spiders consider them spam. Once Google or other search engines penalize a Web page for its contents or ungentlemanly behavior, it becomes very difficult to regain the lost ground

Common SEO Myths and Misconceptions Revealed

here are many SEO myths still floating around on the internet. Some were once valid, and some never worked ever. It is very important to know what these are so you avoid making mistakes that could cost you big-time in the search engines. MYTH: You need to submit your website manually to search engines to get it into their index. REALITY: Entirely false. Search engines prefer to find new sites through backlinks, or links to your website from other websites. If search engines can't find a backlink to your site, then your popularity is doomed and a manual submission a waste. By far, work on backlinks and you could be indexed within 48 hours. MYTH: You need to resubmit your website to search engines manually once a week. REALITY: Not only is this unnecessary once (noted in the last myth), but resubmitting it many times can in fact get you banned from the search engine index. MYTH: In order to get indexed to many search engines, you should use one of those search engine submission services. REALITY: Absolutely 100% false. For one, the only search engines to worry about are Google, Msn, Yahoo, and Ask. Google by far powers a major of the market, powering search engines like AOL. Get into these 4, and you've covered around 98% of the market. MYTH: Meta tags are still alive and well. You must pay attention to these if you want the search engines to index you, and correctly. REALITY: True and false. While some search engines look at meta tags like keywords and description (and always safe to fill them out correctly, NO SPAM ), most search engines like Google look at the content of the page. Just build content and backlinks if you want to increase your ranking. MYTH: I heard that doing this great idea I heard can get you quickly to the top of the search engines results pages in hours. REALITY: If you want a lasting high ranking, you need to build up your site. This means content, something people would want to see/visit, and you need backlinks. Later, content will draw backlinks, but at first you'll need to work on it. MYTH: SEO is too expensive. REALITY: In reality, SEO proves to be cheaper. Organic clicks coming from organic results of searches is free per click, instead of paying a couple of bucks each. Think of SEO as an investment with high return. There are also different levels of SEO, from paying to use a backlink service to paying for a reputable SEO firm to optimize for you. MYTH: All you need to do is build a site and you'll magically receive traffic. REALITY: Ok, the word magically makes the myth obvious, but most people believe that just building the site is enough to get traffic. The first step is get indexed. This means get some backlinks. Search engines find your site through incoming links from other sites, or at least prefer to find it that way. If you want to build traffic, keep users in mind instead of search engines. MYTH: Using the "broadcast to 300,000 people" will help with traffic. REALITY: Stay as far away from this one as possible! The only traffic you'll get is people trying to find your phone number or email address to give you their opinion of spam. MYTH: Use those services where you pay $$ for a guaranteed number of hits. REALITY: That network will put your ad in popups, most of which will get blocked, and since they usually pop up on non-related sites, your actual gain is usually next to nothing, if even that good. MYTH: One-way backlinks are the only useful backlinks now. REALITY: As much as I see and hear this one, it's simply not true. Reciprocal backlinks got a bad rep because most of them came from link farms. A link farm (everyone links to everyone, a way to get thousands of backlinks in seconds) was what Google and some others went after. Reciprocal links are perfectly fine, and if they're on the same topic as your website, they're even ideal.

How To Improve Your SEO Campaign

Ask any successful marketer about their three traffic pulling strategies and one of them will be SEO. Optimizing your site for the search engines is not so difficult as you might think. Go on reading and discover valuable tips to improve your SEO campaign. Never exchange links with link farms. If a site has a directory with 600,000 links, it's probably a good idea to decline the exchange. Search engines identify what they call "bad neighborhoods" or sites that exist only to collect links and then someone cash in on it. Linking to or being linked to by such a site could get you flagged as a potential spammer. When working on a search engine optimization project, consider working out triangular link exchanges. These exchanges will require you to link to one person and then that person to another who will link to you in turn. In the end, none of you have reciprocal links, but you will all have one way links, which are given more value by search engine algorithms. Rather than seeking out "link directory" exchange partners, seek out partners to exchange links for pages people actually go to, such as your opt-in pages, your sales pages, and your home page. This is a much better way to collect links. Additionally, it ends up creating a far more natural link structure than stuffing 600 links in the same directory. Submit articles to directories to create one way links to your site. It is important to note that this will only work once. If you submit the same article with the same resource box to 50 different directories, you will only receive credit for a single one way link and it will be from whatever website search engines happen to spider first. Each search engine has its own algorithm, but Google always leads with algorithm changes. If you spend enough time working on search engine optimization, tune your site to Google's changes. Forget the rest. In 2-3 years from now, they will be doing what Google did yesterday. When optimizing the body of a page for search engines, consider using highlight and bold tags on some of your keywords of choice. Not only will this attract visitors' eyes and point out that the page is relevant to their search but it will also improve your search engine algorithm score for that page's relevance. Whenever you create a boilerplate link text for links you will add to directories, you should always integrate keywords from your list into the actual text. Many experts suggest that text that surrounds a link to your site is also involved in determining precisely what your site is about according to the search engines. As always, it's up to you to implement these tips and techniques to improve your SEO campaign. So don't wait and start right now.

Free Traffic with Google Maps for You

If you do affiliate marketing, promote your own products or do any kind of internet marketing you are depending on two factors: traffic and conversion. These factors will determent if you are a success or not. If you are anything like me, you love free traffic and here I will share some tricks for you to get more free traffic from google.

There are a number of ways to get traffic from google and they all involve a lot of work and requires some skills. You don't need to have any SEO skills to get free traffic from google maps. It is also a great way to show your selves or the product you are promoting to list it properly with google maps. There are three kinds of Google maps on the first page. They have a ten box, ten listings on the map, a three box and even a one box (if you get this one you are dominating your niche). If you have a business in a bigger city in the US you can literally have hundreds and even thousand's of visitor's every day. There are also ways to do this without having a physical business present but we will go deeper in to this subject in our upcoming e-book to our subscribers.

So here is the drill:

* The first you thing you do is to create a google account or a gmail account.

* Add a new listing in your "maps" tab once you are logged in to "Google local business center". Here you need to fill in as much as you can, important. Upload pictures, add videos if you have. As much as you have, but remember to keep it relevant to your business.

* It is an advantage if you have your own website.

* As category's choose keywords relevant to your business. So if you for instance are promoting "weather cleanser", use "water cleanse" and "cleanse water" in the categories.

* You need an actual phone number to verify your listing and if you don't have a physical business in your city don't worry. You can get a phone number from a many different sources but we prefer skype and Vumber. With skype you can receive calls directly on your computer. You also wanna fill in relevant information under "additional information".

* Then press "continue" you will be asked how to verify and if you use phone google will call you right away to give you a verify code. Once this is done you are all set - so far.

* Google will cross reference your listing with a number of other additional listings, so you do wanna list your business with a number of other sites. Here are a list of where I list our business (this is if you have a business in the US, if you don't use similar sites where you are located):

superpages.com listings.yellowpages.com infousa.com localeze.com mapreporter-test.navteq.com biz.yelp.com citysearch.com insiderpages.com local.yahoo.com

It will take from 30-60 days before your listing are accepted at some of these sites so it won't make you a millionaire tomorrow, but this small effort can give you some extra free organic traffic from google maps.
